| Rules |
[03 Aug 2007|08:46am] |
I just thought I'd put up the list of rules I made for myself when I decided to do this thingie.
Rule #1 Any song in my head directly after hearing it on the radio or other media does not count. I think this makes sense - it's in my head because I just heard it.
Rule #2 If a song is in my head twice in the same day, I'm still only counting it once.
Rule #3 Theme songs and jingles do not count. (This rule came about after the theme song from Weeds ran through my mind. Great show, Weeds.)
Rule #4 Any song in my head directly after I wake up doesn't count. It generally changes after about a minute or so anyway.
If anyone else can think of any rules or can think of why these three shouldn't be rules, let me know.

| CROSSPOSTED AT MY REAL PEOPLE BLOG |
[01 Aug 2007|10:15pm] |
crossposted from jgarfink.blogspot.com I'll be using that as a real blog and this as other junk. But READ ON.
SO I've decided to use this as a blog that people READ and I had this fantastic idea: Write down all the songs that get stuck in my head for a week, post them here and analyze them. Here's this past week's songs:
25-7-07 Crossroads - Eric Clapton Sing for Absolution - Muse Fired - Ben Folds
26-7-07 I See a Sea - Jessika Carmichael I'm So Sick - Flyleaf The Red - Chevelle Paralyzer - Finger Eleven The Waydown - Modest Mouse Dig - Incubus Is It Any Wonder - Keane
27-7-07 Dig - Incubus
28-7-07 I guess there were no songs in my head all day! STRANGE.
29-7-07 Late - Ben Folds Pressure - Paramore Icky Thump -White Stripes
30-7-07 Paralyzer - Finger Eleven Dig - Incubus Knights of Cydonia - Muse Layla - Eric Clapton Go Home - Barenaked Ladies
31-7-07 My Moon My Man - Feist We Are Broken - Paramore Layla - Eric Clapton Whoa - Paramore
So that's this week's songs.
Song I thought of the most: Dig - Incubus I really like this song. I'm not so big on the album (Light Grenades), but this song makes me happy. It's good for singing along or just general chilling out.
Most random song of the week: The Waydown - Modest Mouse I haven't listened to Modest Mouse in a long time and then they randomly showed up in my head. It's an excellent song off an excellent album (Fruit That Ate Itself)
Most excellent song of the week: Layla - Eric Clapton I love this song. It's the right amount of blues and rocking out, plus it's by a total guitar god. I bow down to Eric Clapton. WE'RE NOT WORTHY.
Next week will have more Paramore - I've been listening to them a lot since Saturday. They make me happy. You'll also have to forgive me; I forgot about a song by Staind on 26-7, but I was out working all day without my notebook. SORRY EVERYONE. UNTIL NEXT TIME.

IN THE NEWS TODAY:
Super Mario Galaxy comes out November 12! Oh, first semester, how I will fail you.
IN MY THOUGHTS ON THE WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING:
So I was thinking about this earlier: the only REALLY good movies lately are all based on books. (Obviously, there are exceptions to this rule, however.) I think this is due to the fact that authors tend to think underneath the words (or script, as it may be). A lot of books are written with symbolic undertones that make the book deeper than just a crappy "let's get laid before we graduate" movie. So yeah.
